- The Rolex Middle Sea Race is one of the classic top three yacht races together with the Fastnet and Sydney Hobart race
- The race starts and finishes in Malta and takes you round Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, including Stromboli which is a permanently erupting volcano, and the islands of Pantelleria and Lempedusa, a distance of approx 607 nautical miles.
- As a warm up, there are two Coastal Races off Malta in the week before the main race
